Binge-watch our how-to home maintenance videos

While you’re catching up on the movies and shows you missed, how about squeezing in a little screen time for some easy DIY stuff? It might not be as riveting as watching “Game of Thrones” in its entirety (which somehow you never saw). But when you binge-watch our how-to home maintenance videos, you’ll spend far less time and gain useful knowledge. Tune in to Hunter Quinn Homes’ “HQ How To”, for some real “must-see TV”.

Here are some sneak previews of a few blockbuster episodes of “HQ How To”, starring Josh Cave, Hunter Quinn Homes’ Customer Experience Manager.

How To Change Your Air Filter

Did you know you’re supposed to change your home’s air filter every 30 days? If you can’t remember the last time you replaced it, you probably need to do it now. A dirty air filter is clogged with dust, pet dander, pollen, and microscopic particles—none of which you want to inhale.

In addition, the clogged air filter makes your system work harder to maintain temperatures. That’s wasted energy that’s boosting your electricity costs. The added strain on your HVAC system could also cause damage and lead to a much shorter lifespan in this appliance than you would get from one that has been well maintained.

How to Clean Your Dryer Vent

A clogged dryer vent isn’t just annoying. It’s also a fire hazard. Every year, clothes dryers spark thousands of house fires, and 34% of those are caused by failure to clean the dryer vent.

Over time, lint builds up in the dryer vent, which is the line leading from the back of the machine and into the wall—NOT the lint trap in the machine itself (although you should empty that after every load, too). When the extremely flammable dryer lint is not being exhausted through this vent, the heat could ignite a fire in an area that isn’t readily noticed. So, it doesn’t take long for the fire in the vent to spread.

You can tell your dryer vent needs attention when your clothes aren’t dry after one cycle or the outside of the dryer is unusually hot. It’s a quick fix to clean your dryer vent, and well worth the few minutes to watch Josh’s video demonstration.

How to Seal Your Granite Countertops

Your beautiful granite countertops are naturally durable. They’re also porous, which means they can absorb things like red wine and fruit punch, creating unsightly stains. Protect your countertops and prevent these problems by resealing the stone surface.

How often should you reseal granite countertops? Once a year is a good rule of thumb, but you can test the surface by pouring a few drops of water on it. If the water beads up, the seal is still working. If the water soaks in, you need to apply a sealer, which can be done easily with a spray sealer.

Grab the popcorn, kick back, and join Josh Cave and Hunter Quinn Homes for a journey into the unknown spaces behind your walls, under the roof, and all those other places that lead to a happy ending when you give them a little love.

Jarrett was great and worked hard to help me. Those working for him were not responding in a timely manner and did little to nothing to explain the process
