Production Builder Myths

Production Builder Myths

We hear it all the time from Charleston area buyers: “I don’t want to buy a new home that’s cookie-cutter”. Buying a new home from a production builder (as opposed to a custom builder) may seem “cookie-cutter”, but here at Hunter Quinn Homes we proudly break the molds (and myths) of production building. We invite you into one of our sales centers or design centers to see why buying from Hunter Quinn Homes is far from cookie-cutter.

New vs Used

We’ve talked about this a lot on the HQ blog: buying used versus buying new. There are a lot of gorgeous homes from the turn of the last century that defined that coastal Charleston charm that our area is known for. It can be tempting to purchase one of those or buy a home built in the 70s, 80s, or even 90s because of the price. One thing homeowners hardly ever take into account is the state of the home in places you can’t see. What’s behind the walls? Was the electrical done by a licensed professional? Does the plumbing work like it should? All of these questions can end up costing you down the road. And don’t forget, the older the home is, the more engineering you’ll have to do or hire to keep cool during the warm and wet Charleston summers.

With a new home from Hunter Quinn, not only will you know the answers to all of those questions above, we warranty our work with an impressive 2-10 warranty. You know your home is efficiently built to code by local, licensed tradesmen.

Charleston Born and Raised

There are some major national builders in our market and markets around the country. A lot of them build thousands of homes a year. They can do this by using economies of scale and streamlining their products by offering a limited amount of options.

We don’t believe in that model. We believe in building floor plans that work for your life and your budget. We’re a company born and bred in Charleston. And while we have had an excellent 2017, 2018, and now 2019, we’ve made sure that the quality of our work and the helpfulness of our sales staff never deteriorates as we grow our local business.

Options Galore

The nuts and bolts, or should we say the lumber and nails, of your new home, are generally out of sight and out of mind but you look at your fittings and fixtures every day! At each sales center, you’ll see a wide array of options to choose from to make your home uniquely yours while not being overwhelming. From countertops and appliances to the pendant lighting in your kitchen, the number of ways to make your home unique seems limitless. One thing we’ve championed over the years is the overall look of our communities. We invite you to drive to the Paddock at Fairmont South and see if you can spot homes with the same floor plans. We bet this will be a challenge because the elevations (the front of the house) differ from home-to-home instead of floor plan to floor plan. It’s a detail that makes our communities anything but cookie-cutter.

Your new home is not far away. Whether you’re looking for a larger home for your growing family, you’re looking to buy your first home or even right-size - award-winning Hunter Quinn has homes and townhomes in the best locations around Charleston. What we love most about this home is how open the floor plan is. The Lowcountry Farmhouse Style is just beautiful! The arched doorways, the high ceilings, the tall glass door. and the beautiful kitchen are some of our favorites. What we also liked was the customer service that was delivered. From the time we walked into the model home at The Paddock, we were treated with respect and we were appreciated as customers. Courtney, our sales and designer representative, never pushed, only honestly answered our questions and walked us through several homes. Our construction manager, Jay, kept us up to date through the entire process. He set deadlines and was sure to keep the project on schedule. Aimee helped us through the end process. She was very knowledgeable and kept us in the loop as our home was being finished. The entire Paddock Team has been a pleasure working with as they led us through this home buying experience. From our very first meeting, this Hunter Quinn Staff felt like family. In addition, they have provided excellent customer service throughout our building experience. Our Hunter Quinn experience has been a pleasure to walk through.
